Me: is that in Dublin? Can we go there now??
Fast forward two months and I still hadn't been to Phoenix Park. Although time had passed, the excitement for heading to the park hadn't faded - every weekend it was my go-to suggestion but ultimately got beat out because of the weather, other events, or just too lazy to make the trek. So when the DIT Photo Soc, organized a weekend photo-walk I sprung at the opportunity.
When we arrived I welcomed by the beautiful colors of fall, bright orange, red, and yellow leaves that surrounded the trees and crunched as we walked around the park. The first hour of the walk was comprised of us throwing, playing, and burying each other in the leaves - but finally we had to move on and saw what the rest of what the park had to offer. Phoenix Park covers an expansive amount of space, and is actually the largest walled park in Europe! It houses many different attractions: the Dublin Zoo, the President's house, the Wellington Monument, as well as many flower gardens, ponds, and plenty of beautiful scenery. However, what kept us going throughout the day was hoping we would find the heard of deer who call Phoenix Park home.
Ultimately, we found the deer, took hundreds of photos, and it was brilliant craic.
Here are some of my favorites:
I hoped you enjoyed my favorites as much as I enjoyed taking them! Phoenix Park has become one of my favorite parts of the city to get away, just remember to bring some snacks to feed the deer. I recommend carrots or tea biscuits to attract them closer.
I'll leave you with my favorite photo from the afternoon, capturing everything I wanted and more.
Until next time,
