As 2015 came to a close I battled with the things I wanted to accomplish throughout the next year. As I was deciding how to be the most productive I threw a couple ideas into the air - launching my website, making it through my sophomore year of college, finally getting to TEDxUF2016 and all of these things were big goals, but they were things I really wanted but I knew they all would happen. So back to the drawing board I went, I wanted something tangible that I could track my progress but I also wanted something that would be enriching and help me get closer to where I wanted to be.
Before long, I had discovered I wanted to take the challenge of a book a month. I love to read, I always have enjoyed immersing myself in a new story or adventure but in the my busy schedule don't always have or make the time to read. Now, time for a confession, until this year I felt it was unfair to say I loved to read because recently I haven't read. So in 2016, I hope to change that. I'm only halfway through my second book of the year so I'm a bit behind schedule. I plan to rant about the books I read in the thoughts section and hope that keeps me on track for the rest of the year.
My next resolution came from a friend and I talking about our love of visiting museums. I remember visiting them for as long as I can remember, I love seeing art and learning more about the world. Soon, my friend and I decided that that we both both hope to visit fifteen museums over the course of 2016. Later the fifteen became sixteen purely because it had a nicer ring to it. 16 in 2016 was born. If any of you ever decide to take on a challenge like this I suggest taking a trip to Washington, D.C.; over the course of my trip I visited ten landmarks and was well on my way to sixteen.
In my first post I talked about a feeling of lack of knowledge about the world around me, and throughout this year I want to take every opportunity to explore and learn more. My last resolution was to take every opportunity to visit the world the way I had begun in the fall. I've picked a couple of my favorite museums and books that I'm excited to share my thoughts on.
Wish me luck as I continue to get closer to these goals, and I challenge you. Visit a new place, or let the adventures of a new book take you there.
