At the beginning of my sophomore year of college, I realized I had always claimed to love to travel and experience new things, because doesn't everyone? But I hadn't traveled, I didn't have much basis other than books and film to tell me about new cities, and I wanted that to change. As the year began, I told myself I would take every chance to visit a new place. Not even a year later I have traveled to Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington D.C., and am headed to New York City in two weeks. Changing my outlook, and prioritizing travel and experiences first have revolutionized the way I act and feel. Most importantly these trips have lit a spark, I have a new found drive to explore the world around me.
I will admit, fitting these small getaways has taken some planning. As a full time student I have to carefully plan dates around assignments and exams, as well as balancing all of my work outside of class. All the planning and calculations make the time I get away from Gainesville special, but also remind me how great it is to be back home in my own bed. I hope to write about the trips I've already been on, and help my friends and readers prepare better for their own travels.
In the travels section be sure to lookout for posts about landmarks, packing tips, hostels tell-alls, and stories of my own trips. When I visit a new place I love to do my research but balance it with aimless walks around new places, renting bicycles to get around town, and of course finding the trendiest doughnut shop.
